Possessions
"Many wealthy people are little more than janitors of their possessions"
Frank Lloyd Wright
Do the things that we own, own us? Is our happiness and contentment dependent on what we bought this year?
We are often told through advertising that our happiness and identity is dependent on what we own. However, when we spend all our time working for, cleaning, or worrying about our belongings, are we really living, or are we just managing a museum collection? Are the things we own more important than our experiences, our goals, or the people we love?
Contentment is rarely found in an object. It is more often found in our relationships, our community, and our ability to be present in the moment. If you feel like your life is being overshadowed by your possessions, or if you are struggling to find happiness despite what you own, you may need to make some adjustments.
