Jerodine and Mark at Koira Psychology

The Koira story started when we randomly sat next to each other in a 1st Year psychology class in 2006 at Bond University. This chance meeting has culminating in the establishment of Koira Psychology Clinic in 2023. We both share a passion for psychotherapy and its healing qualities. Neither of us ever had the thought we would become psychologists when we left school. It took us years of trying to work out where we fit in this world before we found ourselves enrolling in a psychology degree. Since starting the degree we have spent years reading, researching, and learning how to be useful to those who seek our help.

Why ‘Koira Psychology’?

When naming our clinic we were determined to avoid the typical names, such as "Mindful Pathways" or "Calm Life Clinic". We wanted something unique and a bit random, a name that wouldn't make our clients feel like a product. We also did not want to take the marketing side of psychology too seriously. Given our shared love for dogs, the conversation inevitably turned canine. We remembered that "Koira" is the Finnish word for dog. It was random, it had nothing to do with therapy, which made it the logical choice.
